The base of the trophies is made of 19 baguette-cut diamonds, a reference to the fact that Kansas City is the only team to win two Super Bowls in the last 19 seasons.

And the top of the ring opens to reveal an inscription from the play “Tom & Jerry.” That name was given to the action in which Mahomes sent a three-yard pass to Mecole Hardman to get the touchdown that won the Super Bowl.

The ring’s design features the play’s outline, handcrafted by head coach Andy Reid.

Chiefs president and CEO Clark Hunt also wore the 2019 and 2022 rings. He said before the ceremony that this year’s edition tells the story of the previous season.

“You can think of some of the wonderful things that happened this year that will be incorporated in one way or another,” he said. “And like last year’s ring, it has some really nice surprises. “I’m looking forward to seeing the look on the players’ faces when they open the boxes.”
