Dfter a start to the year marked by ‘torn’ praise for the adaptation of ‘The Last of Us’ by HBO, it seems that there is one more adaptation of a video game to talk about. We’re talking about the ‘Super Mario’ movie which, according to Bloomberg, had a very promising opening weekend.
tell the North American publication that ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’, which debuted in the US on the 5th and on the 6th in Portugal, managed to reach 378 million dollars (346.6 million euros) in global revenue – thus becoming the film of 2023 with the best weekend of debut.
In addition to being a good sign for movie theaters in a post-pandemic context, the success of ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ is also an indicator that more studios may start to look more at video games as promising adaptations.
