Oberliga TuS Makkabi stopped Viktoria Berlin on the way to defending the title in the Berlin State Cup. The club from Charlottenburg, which plays a league below the regional league, surprised Viktoria in the first semi-final on the Hanns-Braun-Platz in the Olympiapark with 3:2 (2:1).
In the final on June 3, 2023, the team coached by legendary Berlin coach Wolfgang Sandhowe will meet the winner of the game between Berlin league club Sparta Lichtenberg and regional league club BFC Dynamo, which will be played on Monday. The winner of the state cup qualifies on the final day of the amateurs for the first main round of the DFB Cup of the coming season.
The outsider was already leading after three minutes of the game
Caner Özcin put the underdog ahead after just three minutes, Enes Küc equalized two minutes later. Two minutes later, Laurenz Dehl scored an own goal to give Makkabi the lead again, which Özcin extended in the 90th minute with his second goal.
