Authorities on Friday released more details about the arrest of a suspect in setting multiple vehicles on fire in the Fairfax area.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Delano Thompson.

Investigators are still gathering more information about the series of fires, but believe he is responsible for eight, according to Los Angeles Police Department officials and Los Angeles Fire Department investigators.

“There are many more fires that we are dealing with in the Fairfax District, and we anticipate, charging you with more fires,” Detective Roger Allen said.

Investigators issued a crime alert last week for Thompson after he was caught on camera getting into his vehicle after setting a car on fire, authorities said. Two more cars were burned the following Saturday in an overnight fire at a nearby garage.

Officials marked Thompson’s vehicle, which was seen in the Sunland area Wednesday night, and was stopped by officers from the Foothill Division.

“We are proud to say that to date, our experience and highly-trained investigators have already arrested 51 arsonists,” said LAPD Capt. Erick Scott.

Following Thompson’s arrest, the number now stands at 52 arson suspects.Get Premiumedited that they have been arrested in the last six months.
