The CONCACAF Nations League season comes to an end on Sunday, June 18. Canada and the US team return to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the final matchup of the tournament.

The United States tore past Mexico with a 3-0 victory that included several brawls, red cards and ended with a discriminatory yell that caused head referee Iván Barton to end the game. American players Weston McKennie and Sergiño Dest both received red cards leaving them ineligible to play in the final against Canada.

In Canada’s match against Panama, a red card was also given but to the Panamanian player Eric Davis after hitting Alphonso Davies on the head. The Canadians prevailed 2-0 and reached their first CONCACAF Nations League final.

History between the two finalists

The last five games between Canada and the United States have been evenly split, with two wins for each team and one draw. Canada’s last win came in January 2022, beating its neighbors 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier.

This is only the second final in the tournament’s short history since its inaugural season in 2019. The United States is the first and only team to win the championship, after defeating Canada in the tournament’s group stage and Mexico in the tournament final. 2021.
