Suspect arrested for stealing exotic birds

Your next pet could be stolen, especially if it is exotic birds. So says the Muñoz family, after experiencing the theft of two of their beloved parrots.

The police confirmed that the person who took them was Lazaro Ariel Mantillaur, arrested in the last few hours.

“It’s the same person who robbed Galloway Farm Nursery, he robbed Luis Gómez, a boy who also lives here in Kendal, other people whose names I don’t know and it seems he was making mistakes and that’s how the police managed to get to him,” says Eduardo Muñoz.

Once captured, the suspect began to give information. The birds are sold, according to the family, on the black market and far from home.

“They had them put in some plastic boxes from Publix because there it seems that they transported them to another place that I don’t know if it’s to another state or out of the country or what they do,” says Muñoz.

Other residents of southwest Miami Dade have also reported theft of their birds, such as Loca and Manu.

Like the Muñoz family, one has already been recovered, but there is still no news of the other.

If you have information for investigators, call the Miami Dade crime hotline.
