Providence, Rhode Island police said Wednesday they have captured and arrested the man accused of shooting and killing a teenager last weekend.

Police confirmed 19-year-old Kevin Giron was arrested Wednesday on Union Ave in Providence, reports WJAR.

The arrest comes after a multi-day search for Girón.

Perez said a group of youths were drinking at Donigian Park on Valley Street Saturday night when the events occurred. He said the victim and suspect walked away when Giron fired a shot into the chest of 19-year-old Juan Carlo Morales, killing him.

Colonel Oscar Pérez identified the victim as 19-year-old Juan Carlos Morales. Morales is originally from Guatemala, but police are sure he lived in Providence.

The victim’s friends said she grew up just down the street from the shooting and on Sunday afternoon candles and balloons graced the sidewalk in memory of Morales.

The chief said detectives had been working diligently ever since to find Giron so he could speak with him.
