All in all, there are no major movements in voter opinion and compared to the previous survey from SVT/Novus, the changes are within the margin of error.

The increase for the Social Democrats is the biggest change. It is also a good bit above the autumn election results, when the Social Democrats got 30.33 percent.

– I think it is mainly due to the fact that the government ignores ordinary people and not least their private finances, but I also think that it gives a rather unstable impression in a troubled time for our country, says Social Democrats party secretary Tobias Baudin to SVT.

The Sweden Democrats receive support of 16.9 percent in the survey and are the third largest party, a bit behind the Moderates who receive 19.7 percent of the support.

“M manages to maintain its voter support even though they are now losing to S by winning voters from SD, which has its lowest support since July 2019,” writes Novus CEO Torbjörn Sjöström.

SD takes the numbers in stride

The Sweden Democrats’ election result last fall was 20.5 percent. Party secretary Mattias Bäckström Johansson, however, takes the lower figures in the new survey in stride.

– I think that with the state of the world there have been challenges where it takes time to get reforms in place. We have several proposals for which we received strong support in the electorate, not least in terms of migration policy, criminal policy and energy policy. There are reforms underway that will come during the mandate period, he says, and continues:

– I think that when you see the results of the policy that will be implemented, you will also be very satisfied.
