The old fox Sly is getting ready to return to the mountain tops. Yep, there’s a sequel to the classic action thriller Cliffhanger in what may well be one of the most unexpected announcements in a long time. Ric Roman Waugh will direct, the man previously responsible for Angel Has Fallen and Mark Bianculli is responsible for the script. Much more precise details than that are unfortunately not known at the moment, but the production team has hinted that Gabriel Walker will once again take center stage. Waugh described the film as a bit of a dream. Especially to be given the opportunity to work with one of his childhood heroes.
“Growing up with the biggest action films of the 80s and 90s, working on many of them myself, Cliffhanger was by far one of my favorite spectacles. To be at the helm of the next chapter, scaling the Italian Alps with the legend himself, Sylvester Stallone, is a dream come true. It’s going to be a great challenge and blast taking this franchise to new heights, a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”
Nice that there is still gunpowder in Stallone, even though he is slowly approaching the age of 80.
