Just let your soul dangle and recharge the empty batteries – this week’s recordings convey this feeling. The images radiate calm, and it is precisely this property that gives them expressiveness. Nature photography in particular continues to enjoy great popularity, which is also reflected in our selection. Regardless of whether they go to the beach or prefer the mountains, the photographers from our community will find relaxation and good motifs everywhere.

Dune grass as a strong foreground element counters the spaciousness of the beach in Fidipix’s photo of the beach pavilion. This contrast between depth and foreground creates balance in the composition. The edges of the dunes guide the eye through the picture. Finally, the people on the beach and the building in the middle give the viewer the feeling of being a silent and unnoticed observer.

Carl-Peter Herbolzheimer caught a chaffinch at exactly the right moment – when it was taking a short break on a fir branch. The blur around the little bird and the well-chosen focus point isolate the animal and make it the focal point. This composition freezes the moment. It seems unusual to see a bird so calm. In the wild, they are always agile and tireless. But it is precisely this contradiction that characterizes the picture.

Christian Bertram was out and about in the Harz mountains for a few days at the end of January when he took his picture of the summit circular trail. He got up at 4:45 am to photograph the dense fog forecast for that day at sunrise. The path and footprints in the snow lead through the picture towards the rising sun. This is staged by the small aperture of f/16 and the resulting lens flare, just as the photographer intended.

The grain and black and white filter give gallery photographer Grabownik’s image Lange-Schatten a vintage feel. The single subject conveys the morning isolation on the way to work. Who doesn’t know that, it’s early and you’re not very talkative yet. On the train or bus you listen to music, look at your cell phone or read a book. In the car you are alone and isolated from the outside world, no one disturbs you. The first rays of sunshine appear and the day starts slowly. The picture conveys exactly this mood in a subtle way.

If these pictures have aroused your interest, you will find all the pictures that made it into the weekly selection in the picture gallery.
