We have already used various vacuum robots for tests, and I was able to take a closer look at a current model, the DreameBot D10s Pro. That one belongs to the new D10s device series, others include the D10s and the D10s Plus. The D10s is the basic model without AI object recognition and with only one bumper, the Plus model comes with a large station that is used to automatically vacuum the dirt container.

Otherwise, the models differ in the size of the fresh water tank, because the model series can also wipe passively. However, it should be mentioned in advance that I will not go into further detail about wiping, since the pad is still only moistened here and then pulled afterwards when cleaning. Fresh dirt can be removed with it, provided it is not too time-consuming. Dried dirt, on the other hand, only smiles tiredly. The pad is also not lifted when it comes into contact with a carpet, and it is not pressed down when cleaning – all of this just makes for wet wiping afterwards.

In addition to the vacuum cleaner, the scope of delivery of the D10s Pro also includes a cleaning tool with brush and blade, a side brush (no spare brush included), the charging station, the associated power cable, the water container and a wiper pad. Dirt container and rubber main brush are already installed.

Setting up the DreamBot D10s Pro in conjunction with the free Dreamehome app is extremely easy, the robot is integrated using a QR code, and the app explains the rest in brief instructions. As the first action, the D10s Pro would then like to start the usual getting-to-know-you round through its new home. It worked surprisingly well here with the three rooms (living room, hallway and kitchen), although the vacuum cleaner had to drive down the hallway twice because the “free space” of the stairs to the basement seemed to irritate him.

After just under 8 minutes, the approximately 50 square meters were recorded, but the map was gradually optimized during the subsequent cleaning processes. If you want, you can even display a 3D representation of the map, which makes the recognized furniture and walls easier to recognize and can even be adjusted afterwards.

Fingerprints and dust are probably not as visible on the white model

The processing of the robot is of high quality, everything without rattling and cracking. Only the high-gloss finish will not appeal to everyone. It magically attracts fingerprints and dust. The AI camera on the front of the robo allows automated detection of objects and obstacles, if desired. Then the robot will mark shoes that are lying around on the map when cleaning, for example, so that you know why it bypassed the area. Unfortunately, the recognition does not work as well as one would wish. The colorful ring pattern on our living room carpet regularly encouraged the AI to detect “animal poo” where there definitely wasn’t any. The photos show which area has been recognized accordingly.

Anyone who invests a lot of time here can perhaps help to improve detection over time by reporting incorrectly detected objects? For me, detection is just an optional feature. In fact, there is very little lying around on the floors in our house, and there are only one place where there are annoying cables. However, the vacuum cleaner only recognized and avoided this in 2 out of 10 cleaning processes. The other times it got tangled up there, which is why I had to stow the cables differently.

In the event that the vacuum cleaner has not cleaned a corner well enough for you or you want to take a look at your premises while on the go, the D10s Pro has an additional feature. You can use the app to access the camera and not only control the robot and send it back to the station, you can also send voice messages. However, spying is not an option before the corresponding messages come here. The D10s Pro acknowledges the activation of the camera with a fairly loud and clear announcement that the vacuum cleaner’s camera is now activated and used externally. A few more features at a glance:

  • In the test, the volume was rarely above 60 decibels, and often significantly lower. This makes the vacuum cleaner one of the quietest that I have tested here so far.
  • Forbidden and wipe-free zones can be set up via the app, and virtual walls can also be created.
  • Up to four cards can be saved for several floors.
  • Map backup is possible.
  • Cleaning can be done for the entire map, individual rooms or zones defined by you.
  • Language assistants Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant are supported. However, it is only possible to start cleaning by command.
  • A detection can be switched on for carpets, which increases the suction power as soon as the vacuum cleaner drives onto a carpet.

The three buttons on the vacuum cleaner itself can be used to trigger cleaning and, in conjunction with the wiping pad, spot cleaning. The on/off switch is also located there. Optionally, you can activate child safety via the app, with which all physical buttons are deactivated and the vacuum cleaner can only be controlled via the app.

If you use the wiping pad via the snap-in system, only the functions “suck + wipe” and “wipe only” are available. If the vacuum cleaner is only to be used for vacuuming, the pad must first be removed. The suction power can be adjusted in three stages, the wiping mode also has three individual moisture levels, which regulate the water throughput.

With the 5,200 mAh battery, the vacuum cleaner should do up to 280 minutes of work and be fully charged again within 6 hours. You can also activate in the app that the vacuum cleaner drives back to the station when there is around 30% remaining battery, charges it and then continues cleaning at the last position. The targeted “up to” 280 minutes according to the manufacturer were measured with a tailwind and permanently sucking downhill, in my opinion. 220 to 240 minutes is more accurate.

The cleaning of our floors was pleasantly fast in the test, which is due to the laser navigation and the great mapping. If the vacuum cleaner gets stuck somewhere and you then set the vacuum cleaner down again in an open area, it only takes a short turn for the device to know where it is on the map again.

The suction power is extremely satisfactory, even the cat hairs here in the house are sucked generously out of our carpets. Only a few corners in the rooms could not be cleaned of dust by the rotating side brush, but I experienced that here with every test vacuum robot. All in all, the model cleans very well and quickly, but reliably.

350 euros is not a small price either, but for what the D10s Pro delivered here, I find it justified. In addition, because of the large offer on the market in this segment, the prices always drop quite quickly anyway.
