El Paso, Texas.- Texas placed containers on the border with Mexico to prevent irregular migration, an action that adds to the hostilities of Republican Governor Greg Abbott against the undocumented.

The containers were placed next to the Rio Grande in El Paso, on the border with Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.

According to local media, the makeshift wall was put up Tuesday in order to stop illegal crossings, a spokesman for the Texas Governor said.

In his Twitter account, Abbott assured that said wall is added to the barbed wire and the National Guard that monitors the border, where there has been an increase in migrants in recent months.

“The placement of container barriers will help prevent the crossing of illegal migrants as the Texas National Guard continues to secure border areas between official points of entry to prevent, deter and interdict illegal migration and transnational criminal activity,” said a Texas National Guard statement.

Arizona placed containers at the border wall with Mexico to prevent migration. However, the federal government ordered the Governor this month to remove these containers.
