The Settlers: New Alliances has had a rough time, but the title is only due to be officially released this week. After players were so disappointed with the new The Settlers offshoot in an earlier game test, Ubisoft has completely transformed the game and set the release date to February 17, 2023. It really seemed like The Settlers might yet have a worthy sequel, but now Ubisoft has shared a message that the community doesn’t like at all.
Ubisoft announces real money shop for The Settlers: New Alliances
As the publisher writes on the official site for The Settlers: New Alliances, the game will be one Includes in-game shop, where a variety of items will be available for purchase. These include boundary stones that enclose areas, skins for towers, unit skins for archers, guardians, and warriors, emblems that change the skin of the user interface in the main menu and the player map in multiplayer lobbies, and titles that appear in the lobby, in the Overview after a game, and displayed in the main menu.
In addition to the cosmetic items, you can also buy boosters in the shop that “ensure that the amount of shards obtained is increased.” The items from the shop can be purchased with two different currencies. Either through relic parts, which can be earned both in multiplayer games and through weekly tasks, or simply through credits, which players can buy for real money.
For the most part, the community is not at all enthusiastic about this shop. Especially since The Settlers: New Alliances already drew the anger of the community. It remains to be seen how the finished game will actually be received by users when it celebrates its release this Friday. Whether the shop will be expanded with new items in the future is also not known, but hopefully these will remain purely cosmetic in nature.
