2023 promises great emotions in sports. Beyond traditional events such as international and domestic football, the Dakar Rally, Formula 1, local motorsports, the NBA and the international tennis circuit, among other competitions, the coming year will feature world-class shows at the that countries will face each other again in search of glory.
Handball World Cup
It will be held in Poland and Sweden between January 11 and 29. The venues will be Krakow, Katowice, Gdańsk, Gothenburg, Kristianstad, Jönköping, Malmö and Stockholm. The 32 teams will be divided into 8 zones and the first three of each will advance to the next phase.
Group A is made up of Spain, Montenegro, Chile and Iran; Group B by France, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Slovenia; Group C by Sweden, Brazil Cape Verde and Uruguay; Group D by Iceland, Portugal, South Korea and Hungary; Group E by Germany, Qatar, Serbia and Algeria; Group F by Norway, North Macedonia, Argentina and the Netherlands; Group G by Egypt, Croatia, Morocco and the United States; and Group H by Denmark, Belgium, Bahrain and Tunisia.
South American Soccer Championship Sub-20 and the World Cup of the category
It will be the thirtieth edition in the history of the contest, and it will be held for the fifth time in Colombia. The continental contest will grant four places for the World Cup of the category to be held between May and June in Indonesia. Three qualifying places will also be awarded, in addition to Chile (per host), for the Pan American Games.
The tournament will start on January 19 and end on February 12. It will have 4 venues and the teams will be divided into two zones of 5, where the first three of each will advance to a final hexagonal. Group A will be made up of Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Peru; while Group B will be made up of Ecuador, Uruguay, Venezuela, Chile and Bolivia.
South American Soccer Championship Under 17 and the World Cup of the category
It will be the nineteenth edition in the history of the contest, and it will be held for the fourth time in Ecuador. It will take place between March 30 and April 23. It will be the prelude to the World Cup in the category that will be held in Peru between November 10 and December 2.
women’s soccer world cup
It will be the ninth edition organized by FIFA. It will take place in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 20. The venues will be Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Auckland, Dunedin, Hamilton and Wellington.
Group A will be made up of New Zealand, Switzerland, Norway and the Philippines; Group B by Australia, Republic of Ireland, Nigeria and Canada; Group C by Spain, Costa Rica, Zambia and Japan; Group D by England, Denmark, China and the winner of the playoffs of the qualifiers; Group E by the United States, Vietnam, the Netherlands and another team that emerged from the playoffs; Group F by France, Jamaica, Brazil and another selected from the playoffs; Group G by Sweden, Argentina, South Africa and Italy; and the AH Group for Germany, Morocco, Colombia and South Korea.
The first two of each zone will advance to the round of 16, where the participants will be eliminated in a direct duel until they reach the final.
Basketball World Cup
It will be held jointly in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia between August 25 and September 10. The venues will be Okinawa, Jakarta, Pasay, Quezon City and Bocaue.
The draw that will define the fixture will take place on April 23, but the 17 teams of the 32 participants that are guaranteed a place in the contest are the Philippines, Japan, Ivory Coast, Canada, Australia, China, Lebanon, New Zealand, Germany , Slovenia, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania and Italy.
Rugby World Cup
It will be the tenth edition of the World Cup and it will be held in France. It will take place between September 8 and October 28. The venues of the contest will be in Marseille, Lyon, Lille-Villeneuve d’Ascq, Saint-Denis, Nantes, Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne, Nice and Toulouse. Group A is made up of New Zealand, France, Italy, Uruguay and Namibia; Group B by South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, Tonga and Romania; Group C by Wales, Australia, Fiji, Georgia and Portugal; and Group D by England, Japan, Argentina, Samoa and Chile.
Panamerican Games
They will be held in Santiago de Chile, between October 20 and November 5. In the National Stadium will be the Aquatic Center for swimming, diving and artistic swimming. Athletics will take place in the Coliseum of the National Stadium, in the collective sports training center there will be artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline gymnastics. Basketball will be held at Sports Center 1, while BMX freestyle cycling and skateboarding will be held at the Urban Sports Esplanade.
3×3 basketball will also be played on the South Courts and fencing will take place at the Paralympic Training Center. While the Field Hockey Training Center will be dedicated to that discipline, while judo, taekwondo and karate will be observed in the Contact Sports Training Center.
For its part, the Tennis and Racquet Sports Training Center will be dedicated to tennis, squash and racquetball, while speed skating activities will be at the skating rink. In Cerrillos Bicentennial Park there will be baseball, softball, volleyball. beach volleyball and sport climbing. Peñalolén Park will be dedicated to track cycling, figure skating, BMX Racing cycling and archery.
There will also be other venues in the Metropolitan Region of the Chilean capital where the marathon, marching, road cycling, shooting, mountain biking, modern pentathlon, Basque pelota, badminton, table tennis, boxing, wrestling, golf, weight lifting, bowling, rugby 7s, water skiing and open water swimming.
In the Valparaíso region, slalom canoeing, jumping, dressage, men’s soccer, handball, triathlon, women’s soccer, water polo, and sailing will take place. Finally, in the O’Higgins region surfing will stand out and in the Bío-bío region there will be speed canoeing and rowing.
South American Soccer Championship Under 15
It will be another of the proposals to observe the future figures of South American football. The teams will be divided into two groups of five and the first two from each zone will qualify for the final phase, which will be played in direct elimination from the semifinals. They will begin on November 17 and end on December 3.
