This Tuesday, April 18, the urban transport companies of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) suspended the service at night, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.. The measure of force is in demand to the Government to update the subsidy items in view of the increase in costs, generated by inflation.

As indicated by the business chambers to infobaeall bus lines are affected federal jurisdiction —that is to say, that of the City of Buenos Aires—, the lines national —which go from CABA to province and from province to CABA—; plus the lines communal and the provincial: that is, from the lines that go from 1 to 799. “All the buses are going to stop working and there will be no transportation,” they specified.

It is worth remembering that the measure of force —with the same impact in the AMBA region— will be repeated tomorrow, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., as planned from the beginning.

Although initially the cessation of the provision of the service had only been announced for tomorrow, in the early hours of this afternoon it was decided to bring it forward. “The decision was made moments ago due to the non-compliance of the compensations that continues by the national, provincial and the City of Buenos Aires governments,” they commented on the matter from the business chambers.

“Until yesterday the debt was 31,000 million pesos and at the last minute the province of Buenos Aires paid a figure close to 7,000 million, therefore the debt they maintain today is 24 billion pesoswhich makes it unfeasible for us to continue circulating on a regular basis ”, they specified from the cameras.

The claim requires payment to the provincial, porteño and national government of the updates committed by the games of subsidies, as a result of the effects of the inflation process that the country is experiencing, they pointed out. Before the announcement in which the measure was advanced, the companies involved had issued a statement in which they explained the reasons for the claim.

“The business entities of public transportation of passengers by automobile that sign the present alert the population to the considerable delay verified in the accreditation of tariff compensation funds corresponding to the higher costs incurred during the current year”, they indicated then.

The document was signed by CEAP (Business Chamber of Passenger Auto Transport), CETUBA (Business Chamber of Urban Transport of Buenos Aires), CTPBA (Chamber of Transportation of the Province of Buenos Aires), AAETA (Argentine Association of Automotive Transport Entrepreneurs) and CEUTUPBA (Chamber of United Entrepreneurs of Urban Passenger Transport of Buenos Aires).

Mario Vacaholder of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Urban Transport of Buenos Aires (Cetuba), revealed the reasons for the measure of force. “The calculation of the costs is very behind, which had been calculated every six months, but with this inflation level is complicated”, he explained.

“Until the first quarter of this year, the full subsidies were collected, but with Cost calculations made using August 2022 prices. Although the cost prices were updated in February, with those of December, that difference has not yet been paid to date,” Vacca said in dialogue with Radio Miter.

Likewise, he said that the price of the costs required by the service should be updated again. “In addition, there are costs that would have to be recalculated, because from December to now we already have more than 21% inflation. then to There comes a time when companies begin to run out of resources.you start by not renewing, then you start to request credits with AFIP, you start to be late with suppliers, with fuel and there comes a time when resources run out”, he said.

“There is no money to provide all the services. Companies are desperate and trying to do what they can. That is why we announce that tomorrow (Wednesday), between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., we are going to rationalize. The schedule is because in the morning we take people to work, in the afternoon we bring them back, but that schedule, commonly called ‘valley time’, We are going to reduce the services to try to save some of the expense of providing the total service”, he expressed.

Likewise, the head of Cetuba announced the scope of the measure. “Us We have affiliates that are only from the Capital (City of Buenos Aires), others that go from the Capital to the Province of Buenos Aires and others that work entirely within the province”, he explained.
