The Municipality of La Plata appealed the ruling of the Contentious and Administrative Justice that stopped the replacement of tiles in the center of the city by making room for a presentation of frontistas from La Plata. The Commune’s legal team assured that the “Veredas a la obra” plan is within the framework of current ordinances. This Friday, indicated municipal sources, The work continued due to a safety issue so that the stoppage of the tasks does not create problems or accidents for pedestrians who pass through the work areas.
The suspension of the laying of tiles was ordered by the head of the Administrative Litigation Court of Lanús, Maximilian Alberto Ceballoswho is subrogating until his return to La Plata Maria Ventura Martinez; and refers to a series of ordinances that stipulate how the sidewalks of the city should be and, in particular, to No. 12,240 approved in 2022, which establishes the delivery of new tiles only in those blocks that had already previously intervened.
As a result of the claim, on December 22, the judicial authorities requested the Commune to present reports on the “Veredas a la obra” program, which intends to renew the sidewalks in several key points in the city. The request, however, was made in the middle of the judicial fair and therefore the Municipality will have until February 22 to respond to this request, after which the substantive issue can only be decided and whether the work can continue. Or they will have to be stopped permanently.
In the appeal made by the Commune It was highlighted that the works were expressly validated by the Deliberative Council and it is, for this reason, that they hope to be able to resume the works soon.
Despite the judicial suspension, the workers of the Commune continued to carry out tasks this Friday in the different parts of the city that are under construction. “The tasks are due to the security measures necessary to leave everything in good condition and that the stoppage of the tasks does not generate problems or accidents for pedestrians,” sources from the Municipality explained to 0221.com.ar and they explained that they tried to “accommodate the materials and machinery.”
