Marielle Smiths returned for BFMTV to her relationship with Sylvain L., who died on Thursday. It recounts a daily life marked by a relationship under the influence.
Sylvain L., main suspect in the disappearance of Héléna Cluyou, died this Thursday in hospital, after two suicide attempts which had plunged him into a coma. The same day, a charred body was found in the forest in Argol, Finistère. The 36-year-old had confided to his brother a few days earlier that he had “committed a stupidity” in connection with “what everyone was talking about in Brest”.
Marielle Smits, ex-girlfriend of Sylvain L., testifies this Saturday on BFMTV and talks about her relationship started in April 2020 with the one who remains the main suspect in the disappearance of Héléna. Between repeated rapes and permanent mood swings, she recounts a relationship under the influence.
“He drank a lot”
The young woman notably accuses Sylvain L. of having raped her on several occasions, although she never filed a complaint.
“I was not consenting, I told him that I did not want to, he did not listen to me. I clearly let myself be done, so as not to risk more. So he raped me several times”, declares she.
She also claims that Sylvain L. suffered from numerous drug and alcohol addictions. “He drank a lot, at work, at home, when I went to his house there were leftover joints, cocaine, it was a mess all the time. There were beers, stronger alcohol” , she continues.
Constant mood swings
On a daily basis, she had to learn to deal with a companion with constant mood swings. Marielle assures that “suddenly we were together, suddenly it was ‘well no you’re too young we’re not together’, and then it was always like that, it was when it arraged him. And each time he feels guilty, he comes back, he tries to be excused, it’s or all or nothing “.
“Until the moment when I understood that it was toxic for me and that I had to stop”, she assures.
Now, investigations are continuing to determine the conditions of Héléna’s disappearance, despite the death of the main suspect. An autopsy must be carried out on the charred body found, which “in all likelihood” is that of Héléna, announced the public prosecutor, Camille Miansoni.
