The new Xbox update has arrived. The deployment is underway by Microsoft teams and as usual, we explain all the new features. In particular, it is a question of new energy parameters.

Options to consume less electricity

If you follow the news on Xboxygen, you noticed that new options to reduce your carbon footprint were launched on Xbox last January for Xbox Insiders members. These are now available to everyone.

This new Xbix update makes it possible to reduce the carbon footprint of downloads by programming them to launch during slots during which the console will use as much renewable energy as possible. However, there are conditions to this.

When your console is plugged in, connected to the internet, and regional carbon intensity data is available, Xbox will schedule game, app, and operating system updates for your console at specific times in the window. nightly maintenance, which can result in reduced carbon emissions as a greater proportion of electricity comes from low-carbon sources on the power grid. This reduces dependence on fossil fuels and CO2 emissions and can save you money.

The Shutdown (energy saving) option can reduce energy consumption by up to 20 times when the console is off, compared to the standby option. For two consoles that switch to Shutdown (power saving) for a year, Xbox estimates that it saves the equivalent of the amount of carbon eliminated by a tree planted and grown for a decade. These figures are based on an average of Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles in Shutdown (power saving) mode for 20 hours per day for one year.

If you are wondering how much an Xbox costs in electricity, remember that Xboxygen actually has a complete study on the subject with different comparisons according to gaming habits.

Hide images from games on the Xbox interface

Some gamers find the image of a game too distracting or prefer a simpler background when browsing their home screen.

With this new feature, players can hide game images so that they no longer replace the home screen background every time you select a game tile. Instead, the back – home screen map will always remain in the solid color of your choice.

To adjust your background, go to the General settings of the console then in the personalization and background options. On this page, you can choose to show or hide the game image using the button located at the bottom right of the screen.

Use the Google Home app as a touchscreen remote for your Xbox console

As of 2019, you can control your Xbox console using voice commands with Google Assistant. Now you can use the Google Home app as a touchscreen remote for your Xbox console.

When you add your Xbox console to your Google Home app, you’ll be able to easily turn your console on and off, navigate the screen, control media playback, and more. You can use the Google Home app to control your Xbox just like you do other smart home devices.

The functions of the remote control are as follows: power on/off, directional navigation, home navigation, backward navigation, play/pause, skip/previous, volume up/down, mute and recording. a game clip.

Easily find your friends

As this Xbox update rolls out, a random subset of users will be able to try out this new option.
