The Five Nights at Freddy's movie hasn't come out yet and its producer is already dreaming of adapting more successful horror video games.

The year 2023 has been loaded with video game adaptations, both on the big and small screen. From The Last of Us to Super Mario Bros. The Movie, the industry cannot complain about the great moment that these franchises are experiencing thanks to the projects that have emerged for film and television.

The next big project will be Five Nights at Freddy’s, a horror movie inspired by the video game of the same name that promises to be one of the big surprises this year. Blumhouse has bet heavily on this film and, while waiting for its release next October, its producer has made it clear that they want to adapt more horror video games to the big screen.

In an interview with Discussing Filmthe producer of Blumhouse, Jason Blumhas discussed the possibility of adapt other horror video games which, according to him, have a solid narrative base that can be adapted into a film or television series:

“I think proper video games have great source material for movies. We’ve seen that even with Super Mario Bros. The Movie. It’s a different genre, but it was an amazingly successful movie. I hope that’s the case with Five Nights at Freddy’s. James Wan is a huge fan of video games and we have a gaming division that we’ve been working on for quite some time. I’m looking forward to finding more popular games that we can turn into horror movies.”

The collaboration between two prominent horror film production companies such as Blumhouse and Atomic Monster has given rise to a much more ambitious vision on the part of two great representatives of the genre, James Wan y Jason Blum. Now we can expect projects of this type with a budget typical of a blockbuster, with the only difference that in these films there will be no superheroes, but ghosts, monsters and serial killers. The movie of Five Nights at Freddy’s will hit theaters on October 27, 2023.
