The Premier League is contracting and the battle is fierce both at the top and at the bottom. Southampton lost (another) fateful game on Monday against Nottingham 3-4 and can start looking towards The Championship for next season – the team are eight points from safety with three games to go.

Nice victory, on the other hand, for Nottingham, who advanced to 16th place and 33 points.

Everton rose to 32 points and 17th in the table, which would mean continued play in the Premier League. This is thanks to Monday’s 5-1 victory away from home over successful club Brighton, who still have some chances to advance to the top-5 who are allowed to play in Europe next season.

Leicester, on 30 points, however, slipped to 18th place – meaning relegation – due to the 3-5 defeat at Fulham.

The clubs in the bottom battle have played 35 games and three games, and potentially nine points, thus remain.

Leeds are second last with 30 points. Other clubs that harbor little risk of relegation are West Ham (37 points) and Bournemouth (39 points).
