Soma Bay.– The National Artistic Swimming Team continues in a big plan in the World Cup in Egypt despite not having support from Conade.

Two days after winning gold in the Mixed Technical Team event, this Monday the duet made up of Nuria Diosdado and Joana Jiménez was proclaimed champion in the Free event with a score of 325.6584 units.

The tricolor duet obtained a note of 31.5500 in Degree of difficulty; 86.3000 in Artistic Impression and 239.3584 in Execution.

The Dutch Bregie De Brouwer and Marloes Steenbeek finished second with 317.0250, followed by the Italian pair of Alessia Macchi and Susanna Pedotti with 296.4458.

The Mexicans were the best in the competition in which 17 duets participated and in which there were no representatives of Spain, China and Canada, which are powers in the discipline.

In the Free Mixed Duet, Mexico also climbed to the podium thanks to Itzamary González and Diego Villalobos, who secured the bronze in the test won by Spain followed by Colombia, a duo that took just over a point from the tricolors.

This was the first international competition of the year for the Mexican team, which seeks to perfect its routines for the Fukuoka Swimming World Cup, selective for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and the Pan American Games in Chile, in October, which also offer places for the gala summer date.

The swimmers were able to make the trip thanks to the support of the Telmex Foundation, which covered all the team’s expenses because Conade cut off their support for not recognizing Kiril Todorov as president of the Mexican Swimming Federation (FMN), despite that this character is unknown by World Aquatics, the governing body for aquatic sports in the world.
