The Buenos Aires Minister of Justice and Security, Eugenio Burzaco, announced on Tuesday the arrival of 150 Tasers to the City, after the approval of the process initiated in the Import System of the Argentine Republic (SIRA), and set a date for its implementation.

“In April we are going to have the Tasers in the City. This implies the possibility of having brigades that can operate throughout the territory and especially personnel in train or subway stations, where their use is essential,” announced the official, who specified that a first shipment of 90 pistols will arrive this month and, later, another of 60. “I think that with 150 we will be well covered,” he said.

And regarding its implementation date, he specified: “We are going to have a Taser for the month of June or July. When people are trained and qualified, we are going to have the weapon operational.”

in dialogue with radio NetworkMarcelo D’Alessandro’s successor emphasized that “personnel must be trained” and establish the use of Tasers in places “where there is a high concentration of people and -later- in quick action brigades for situations where there is someone with a knife or a psychotic break”.

“We hope that this will also change this difficulty that the policeman often has to use a firearm in the face of an attack that is not with a firearm but that ends the policeman’s life,” he confided.
