The 2023 Guangming Science City Forum, hosted by the Shenzhen City People’s Government and organized by the Shenzhen City Development and Reform Commission, the Shenzhen City Science, Technology and Innovation Commission and the Guangming District People’s Government, will be held on March 27-28 and April 28 in Guangming District.
The forum has the permanent theme “Guangming: Building Dreams for the Future” and the key words for this year’s session are “Creating Ideas”, “Setting Sail” and ” Pursuing Dreams”. With a global vision, it has invited numerous high-level experts, including renowned domestic and foreign scholars, representatives of world-renowned international science cities and institutions, scholars from Hong Kong and Macao universities, and senior professionals from various fields of technology, education and industry. The forum, which brings together top personalities from home and abroad, will discuss the main scientific and technological development trends and jointly take responsibility for innovation leadership.
As an important part of the pioneering area for the National Comprehensive Science Center in the Greater Bay Area, Guangming Science City has become the region where the major scientific and technological innovators are most concentrated, the innovation momentum is growing fastest, and the scale of investment in comprehensive innovation is greatest. The collective efforts to build have become stronger and stronger.
Open communication is the gateway to discovering the pinnacle of science. As Guangming Science City accelerates into a world-class scientific center, there is an urgent need to establish a comprehensive and internationally renowned platform for high-quality exchanges and expand the scope of domestic and international technological cooperation. In response to this need, Shenzhen has decided to hold the annual Guangming Science City Forum, creating an elite arena for exchanging ideas that will attract the best intellectual resources from home and abroad. At this platform, renowned professionals from academia, education and industry will come together to engage in in-depth discussions, cultivate innovative thinking and collaborate in enhancing the Greater Bay Area’s native innovation capabilities.
The forum will take place in the “1+9+3” format, ie one main forum, nine parallel forums and three side events.
The main forum will feature a series of keynote speeches delivered by academics and experts at the forefront of technological innovation. In addition, there will be several important events, including the opening ceremony for major scientific and technological infrastructures, the introduction of major foundations and the joint invitation ceremony for major scientific and technological infrastructures.
The nine concurrent forums will include, among others: the Scientific Apparatus Planning, Construction and Operation Innovation Forum, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Collaborative InnovationForum, the New Generation Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Application Seminar, the Fourth Engineering Biology Innovation Conference, the Materials Science forum and others.
Three accompanying activities, including a nature music concert, a rowing competition and a recreational bike ride, will be organized to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for participants to socialize.
Renowned scientists from Germany and abroad, representatives of related institutions in renowned cities of science, as well as well-known entrepreneurs and representatives of investment companies are invited to this forum. Distinguished academics will deliver keynote speeches on the Forum theme, and experts and entrepreneurs will share their insights through reports, dialogues and other means.
It is the first time that Shenzhen hosts the Guangming Science City Forum. Going forward, Shenzhen will make this event an annual scientific event with core values and global impact.
The main venue of this forum, Guangming Science City, is located in the eastern part of Guangming District. In July 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology officially approved the Guangming Science City-Songshan Lake Science City area as the starting area for the construction of a comprehensive national science center in the Greater Bay Area.
In the past five years, Shenzhen has pooled its resources to achieve the goal of building a world-class science city, and the development of Guangming Science City has accelerated at an unprecedented pace. With the settlement of 24 major science and technology innovation platforms, the formal commissioning of two university campuses or transition campuses, and the acceleration of nine major science and technology infrastructure projects, two provincial key laboratories and 11 scientific research platforms, Guangming Science City is poised for rapid growth.
