Through its innovation laboratory IDB Lab, the Inter-American Development Bank Group is hosting the second edition of the IDB Lab Forums in Bogota, Colombia. The topics of the event are financing and the promotion of entrepreneurial ecosystems.
This high-level international gathering aims to improve the quality of life of Latin American and Caribbean citizens through innovation and technology. Entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, accelerators and other players in the innovation ecosystem meet to seize business opportunities, discover trends, identify talent and launch new initiatives.
The event’s agenda underscores the importance of funding early-stage innovation and the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems to foster new solutions to the region’s key economic and social problems, bringing gender, diversity, climate and biodiversity issues into the discussion.
The Forum will be attended by IDB President Ilan Goldfajn, Colombian Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Germán Umaña and Ramiro López Ghio, IDB Group Representative in Colombia, and will feature more than 80 prominent speakers and panellists expected.
This year, the event is being held as part of the IDB Lab’s 30th anniversary celebrations, “which is poised to become the region’s first innovation center for development,” said Irene Arias, CEO of the IDB Lab. “The IDB Lab Forum is a space that highlights this new role; in it we offer a unique platform to connect and promote exchanges between entrepreneurs, investors, companies, accelerators and public bodies, as well as other innovation stakeholders,” she concludes.
At the IDB Lab Forum will also WeXchange participate, a pioneer in promoting female entrepreneurship in Latin America and the Caribbean in the STEM field. The event will feature 15 innovative entrepreneurs from the region, selected from over 300 applicants, to pitch their companies to potential investors for financing opportunities.
