The first installment of The Last of Us was launched in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 console. A year later, the remastering of the title for the PlayStation 4 arrived, in June 2020 its sequel The Last of Us II was released, also for PS4 and in 2022 the remake for PS5 of the first game.

We could easily say that the Naughty Dog franchise is past its years, but after the premiere of the live-action series on HBO Max, is having a second life on consoles.

According to a report published on the website of xatakathe great fidelity of the program with respect to the video game has skyrocketed sales of the video game.

In the UK, according to Game Industrysales of The Last of Us Part 1, the PS5 remake of the original version released in 2013, have increased by 238 percent last week, ranking within the top 20 best-selling video games in that country.

For its part, the remastered version of the first game for PS4 recorded a 322% increase in its sales in the same period, ranking 32nd in the best-selling gamesa top dominated by Fire Emblem Engage and FIFA 23.

An acclaimed adaptation

So far, after two episodes released, The Last of Us series has a 97 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoeswhich speaks to the excellent work of both HBO and Neil Druckman, creator of the original video game and co-producer and co-writer of the show.

The argument places the series in the year 2003 in the United States, when the outbreak of the mutant Codryceps fungus begins to infect people, without control and turned into hosts of the bacteria. Years later, Joel Miller is hired to sneak Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of a quarantined military zone, with whom he must cross the country dodging hordes of infected.

The first two episodes of The Last of Us series are now available on HBO Max. Chilean actor Pedro Pascal is the protagonist, playing Joel, while Bella Ramsey plays Ellie.
