What is it about? Which actors are involved?
The series will be roughly based on the plot of the game of the same name from Naughty Dog. In the game, a devastating fungal mutation called Cordyceps has wiped out the vast majority of humans on Earth. The few who still walk the earth have largely turned into fungal mutants, preying on the last survivors. In the midst of this apocalypse, we accompany Joel and 14-year-old Ellie on their journey across the United States.
It is not known to what extent the first season will be strictly based on the video game. There will certainly be differences here and there. We also don’t know yet whether the second season will pick up on the events of the video game The Last of Us: Part 2.
The series stars some high-profile Hollywood actors. Forty-something Joel is played by Pedro Pascal, who many will recognize from Game of Thrones or The Mandalorian. Young Ellie is played by Bella Ramsey, also known for her role as the cheeky Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones.
Other important roles also play Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Nico Parker as Sarah, Nick Offerman as Bill and Anna Torv as Tess.
