The Last of Us arrived with great success on HBO, with the series being considered the best video game adaptation by many vehicles and a large part of the public. After two episodes, the production is already being completely acclaimed, confirming its name among the great releases of the year.
Being an adaptation of the franchise games created by Naughty Dog, the series is presenting a plot very faithful to what was seen in the original work, despite certain changes. Joel
Protagonist of the first The Last of Us, Joel is a tough survivor who receives the mission to cross the country with Ellie. Showing that he is tough, the character ends the journey alive, despite passing very close to death in one of the game’s stretches.
Ellie
Humanity’s hope for the creation of a cure, Ellie also ends the first game in the franchise alive. When the fireflies decide to operate on her in an attempt to find a cure, the girl takes serious risks since her death would be inevitable, but Joel emerges as her savior, choosing the girl over humanity.
Sarah
Sarah, Joel’s daughter dies early on in The Last of Us. With a striking and tense scene, the girl’s death makes it clear that the plot is heavy. The girl is shot by a soldier who is ordered to execute anyone who might be infected.
Tess
Joel’s great partner in the years after the cordyceps outbreak, Tess also ends up dying early in the first The Last of Us. After being bitten, Tess decides to stay behind to fight a group of enemies, giving Joel and Ellie time to escape safely.
tommy
In the game, Tommy ends up moving away from his brother, Joel, after a disagreement. Putting aside the life of a smuggler, Tommy finds a new place to command and live. At one point, the brothers are reunited when Joel believes that Tommy is the right person to finish the mission to take Ellie to the Fireflies. Tommy finishes The Last of Us alive.
bill
Character loved by a large part of the public, Bill stands out in the game with his grumpy style and his tough demeanor. Being the one who helps Joel to get a vehicle to continue his journey, Bill goes on with his life normally after the protagonist’s departure with Ellie.
sam
Little Sam appears at a later stage of the adventure, accompanied by Henry, his older brother. Just like Ellie, the boy is a child who needs to grow up fast to survive in a world where there is no room for childhood and innocence. Unfortunately, in a remarkable scene, Sam is bitten and ends up becoming infected.
henry
Sam’s older brother ends up shooting the boy after he becomes infected and attacks Ellie. In a moment of sheer desperation, Henry chooses to commit suicide, thus completing one of the most impactful scenes in the first game in the franchise.
Marlene
The leader of the Fireflies was willing to do anything to find a cure for humanity, which includes allowing Ellie to lose her life. When Joel prevents the doctor from performing the procedure, Marlene tries to stop the man from taking the girl away, but is killed by the survivor. After injuring Marlene with a shot, Joel finishes what he started and executes the woman because he knew that she would go after Ellie if she stayed alive.
riley
Riley does not appear in the first game of the franchise, being a character with participation only in the Standalone DLC “Left Behind”. Riley was with Ellie when the girl discovered that she was immune, when they were both bitten. While nothing happened to Ellie, Riley became infected. Although she does not appear in the first game, the character is important in the series, with the production also adapting the DLC.
Frank
In the game, Frank is a character only mentioned in some conversations and notes, being an old partner of Bill who ended up hanging himself. In the series, Frank is still alive when Joel meets Bill and ends up being a character with greater importance.
