People really love The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The Switch exclusive game currently holds one of the highest Metacritic ratings of all time (indicating that it’s a media favorite), and the latest UK physical copy sales figures clearly demonstrate that consumers are also loving this sequel.

Gamesindustry.biz is now reporting that Tears of the Kingdom has broken the Hogwarts Legacy record as the biggest physical game launch of 2023 in the UK, and has done so with a whopping 50% more copies sold. Unsurprisingly, this has also cemented the game as the biggest Zelda launch in history in the country, with more than 2.7 times the sales of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Likewise, Tears of the Kingdom is already the eighth biggest Zelda game of all time in the UK after just three days of sales, and if you look at revenue alone, it’s also the fourth biggest Zelda game of all time.

However, when looking at the number of copies shipped, Tears of the Kingdom trails Pokémon Scarlet/Violet as the biggest Switch launch in the UK, but beats Game Freak’s pocket monster adventure as the biggest Switch launch ever in the UK in terms of revenue.

While of course we thought it would go well, we have to say that this exceeds our expectations. Have you read our review where we explain why you must get this?
