Fans of THE Masked Singer are convinced a 90s pop icon accidentally “revealed” they were knitting on Instagram.

Many fans were convinced they recognized the voice of singer Claire Richards of the pop group Steps and they were certain of their guess after the star posted a big hint ahead of the show.
The singer took to social media to share a short video of herself doing some DIY.
There was an assortment of brightly colored shapes scattered across the table.
She captioned it: “Happy Saturday! That’s where I’ll be right now.”
Many have speculated that the colorful character is Steps’ Claire Richards – and that may have sealed the deal.
In his The Masked Singer videotape, Knitting had a Lancastrian accent and hinted at a connection to the theater world.
They also walked past a magpie, the famous bird associated with Newcastle.
The character described himself as giving a “big warm hello and a hug.”
And she “promised not to chain you up.”
The final knitting riddle was: “Knitting is easy, it’s the crossing of sticks.” Count all your stitches, there should be 26.
Many felt they recognized the voice behind Knitting, which is wrapped in pink and blue yarn, like Claire.
This was compounded by a video posted to teammate H’s TikTok page capturing the performance and his reaction.
Fans flooded Twitter with their theories, as they piece together clues from the first videotape about the hidden star.
“Knitting is Claire Richards,” said one. “Cutting shapes = steps. 26 stitches make 5, 6, 7, 8. Hold Me In Your Arms, the song by H & Claire. Oh, and it’s his voice. Don’t try to hide Claire.
“Knitting is absolutely Claire Richards! She’s crafty, loves to knit, 26 clues refers to Steps being around 26, magpie for One For Sorrow,” said a second.
A third wrote: “Claire Richards is knitting, nice try to dress up but the voice is dying to burst through the stitches!”
“Knitting is Claire, she changes her voice. The voice that sings sounds like him sometimes,” added a fourth.
While a fifth concluded: “Claire Richards from Steps. ‘Morning’ and ‘present’ – she presented SMTV Live.
Claire rose to fame in 1997 as part of the pop group Steps, which has hits such as 5, 6, 7, 8, Tragedy and One for Sorrow.
Claire’s bandmate H, who had his own taste of reality TV stardom while appearing on Dancing On Ice, now seems to have sealed the deal with his recent comments.
Posting to his TikTok page, H shared a clip of Knitting before showing his reaction as the character girded Becky Hill’s Better Off Without You.
In his caption, he wrote, “#TheMaskedSinger #knitting #knittingmaskedsinger #clairefromsteps,” alongside a knitting ball.
