Smooth sailing. Thus began reconstruction work on Interstate 95 at Cottman Avenue early Thursday morning northeast of Philadelphia.

All this after the northbound section of the highway collapsed on June 11 after a fuel truck crashed and exploded under the road. The driver of the tractor, identified as Nathan Moody, died in the incident.

As predicted by the governor, Josh Shapiro during the early hours of Thursday a shipment of the material that will be used to fill part of the structure as it is being rebuilt was escorted by the Pennsylvania State Police from Delaware County to the affected area. It was about several trucks full of the compound used in other facilities.

A camera was also enabled that projects the progress of the project in real time, since it will be a 24/7 order until it is completed, so that citizens can see first-hand what happens on a daily basis. Click here to see the reconstruction.

Pennsylvania was given about $3 million to pay for the demolition of the collapsed north leg and the emergency-compromised south leg of I-95 by the federal Department of Transportation. It should be remembered that the secretary, Pete Buttigeg, was in Philadelphia to tour the place and make observations ratifying the financial support to put the highway into operation as soon as possible.
