Despite the release of the documentary This is It the same year Michael Jackson died, we have yet to see any film that attempts to depict the artist’s eventful and controversial life.

It’s on the way, though, as Lionsgate is working on a reel called “Michael,” penned by Oscar nominee John Logan, who has penned The Aviator and Gladiator, among others. Thanks to IGN we now know that Antoine Fuqua is directing.

His credits include Training Day, but he has also directed The Magnificent Seven and two Equalizer films. The synopsis reads:

“Michael will give audiences the never-before-told and in-depth portrayal of the complicated man who became the King of Pop. The film will explore all aspects of Michael’s life, including his most iconic performances that led him to become the greatest entertainer of all time.”

How excited are you yourself for a movie about Michael Jackson?
