The police announced on Friday that they had started a so-called special eventas a result of the recent escalating spiral of violence in Stockholm.

Then more followed a night of shootings and explosions.

As early as 6 p.m., the first alarm came, then about a shooting at an apartment door in Fruängen in southwest Stockholm. Just over four hours later, a gunshot-wounded, lifeless man in his 40s was found in Huvudsta center in Solna. He died from his injuries.

– We have an exceptional day behind us. We are talking about gross, organized and completely ruthless crime, which of course no decent society can tolerate, says Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer, when he meets the press in the district north of Stockholm on Saturday.

He says that during the day he has met the police and the police leadership and got the impression that the authority is doing everything in its power, both to clear up the crimes that have been committed and to stop the development.

– There is an enormous mobilization of all available resources.

The Prime Minister: “An extremely violent capital”

According to sources for SVT Nyheter and the police’s own assessment, several of the recent murders have connections to drugs.

The Minister of Justice repeats what he has said before, namely that the government wants to borrow several of the tools that are currently used in the fight against terrorism in the fight against organized crime.

– The police must be given the same opportunity to intercept gang criminal environments, i.e. secret interception to prevent crime.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) condemns the violence of the last day, in a comment to SVT Nyheter and other media.

“Gang crime is escalating. These are people with an extreme capital for violence who, in search of revenge or status, threaten other people’s safety and freedom,” he writes.
