The new Galaxy S23 announced yesterday by Samsung offers better performance and improved photo quality. It also has a bigger battery than last year’s Galaxy S22, but it’s smaller than the Galaxy S21’s.

The long-awaited Galaxy S23 has finally been made official by Samsung. The three models available, namely the S23, the S23+ and the S23 Ultra, bring improvements in terms of performance, photo quality, screen and battery. In effect, the Galaxy S23 has a bigger battery than the Galaxy S22 released last year. Nevertheless, it has a smaller battery than the previous model i.e. Galaxy S21 launched in 2021.

That doesn’t mean the Galaxy S23 has lower battery life than the Galaxy S21. The improved software optimization of the Galaxy S23 should even allow for good battery life. We will know more in the first tests of the Galaxy S23 which should not take long to point the tip of their nose.

The Galaxy S23 has a bigger battery than the S22, but it’s 100mAh weaker than the S21

Samsung’s new flagship has a 3,900 mAh battery for the base model and a 4,700 mAh battery for the S23+. In comparison, the Galaxy S21 has a 4,000 mAh battery compared to 4,800 mAh for the S21+. Both Galaxy 23 models are therefore equipped with a 100 mAh weaker battery than the Galaxy S21 in 2021.

As we saw in our specs comparison between the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22, the latter packs a 3,700mAh battery vs. 4500 mAh for the S22+. This year, the Galaxy S23 therefore has a larger battery and better battery life than its predecessor.

Besides these battery differences, the new Galaxy S23 benefits from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 worldwide, a 200 Mpx sensor for the Ultra model and a 12 Mpx selfie sensor for all three models. The 6.1, 6.6, and 6.8-inch screens have also been upgraded with a peak brightness of 1750 nits.
