If you are a regular on Instagram and you follow ‘influencers’ or other well-known characters, you will surely have received notifications that this or that person has a new broadcast channel available. But, what does this new service offered by the social network consist of? Can everyone access? Can everyone have one?
Broadcast channels allow you to create a large-scale community and interact directly with followers. It is a formula that Instagram incorporated a long time ago in other countries, but which has recently been enabled in Spain.
Not all Instagram users can create it. Only those who have a large number of followers, without the social network specifying how many. Therefore, if on your Instagram profile, in the ‘create’ option (the same as for uploading a photo or a reel), you do not see the possibility of opening a broadcast channel, it means that your number of followers is still insufficient.
What’s new
Broadcast channels allow you to share content in a different way by supporting different types of formats such as text, video, audio, voice notes… In addition, the account manager can directly interact with his followers through polls and questions – through those that can only be reacted with emoticons or vote at the moment, but not send messages- and, even, you can invite another content creator to the channel to chat live.
In short, broadcast channels make it possible to create a community to connect with followers live in a shared space in real time. Additionally, creators with subscriptions can start a broadcast channel just for subscribers to share exclusive content.
How to join a broadcast channel
Even if an invitation to join a broadcast channel is not received, Instagram users can do so by accessing the creator’s story and clicking on the channel’s ‘sticker’, or through the link that they have previously set on their profile.
