President Alberto Fernández celebrated today the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film that “Argentina, 1985” won last night.

“It is a new and enormous joy. Congratulations to the entire team that carried it forward with talent, work and commitment to our democracy,” the president said on Twitter. “As Santiago Miter -director of the film- said, democracy is something for which we need to ALWAYS continue fighting (sic)”, he completed.

The film directed by Miter and starring Ricardo Darín (as prosecutor Julio César Strassera) and Peter Lanzani (in the role of Luis Moreno Ocampo) was honored at the 80th edition of the awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

“I am very happy to be here. I want to dedicate this award to the great actor Ricardo Darín and to all those who fought for democracy in Argentina,” Miter said when thanking him for the distinction.

“Thank you very much, I am very proud of this award. And for the people of Argentina, after the world championship, this is a great joy. I love you,” said the protagonist of ‘El secreto de sus ojos’.

In relation to that film, winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2010, “Argentina, 1985”, was well positioned to access the shortlist of international films for the Academy Awards, a goal to which it approached by being shortlisted in the short list of 15 candidates.
