– It feels good that it is finally finished after many back and forths, says Peter Sennblad who is landscape strategist in Hedemora municipality.
The dispute section has been upgraded after several years of disrepair. Previously, there was no maintenance agreement between the municipality and the Swedish Transport Administration, but when it became clear, the municipality was given responsibility for the actual decoration of the roundabout and the Swedish Transport Administration will take care of the meadow area that will be around it.
The moor rider won the vote
In 2021, Hedemora municipality announced a vote on what the roundabout would look like when it was upgraded. Most votes received the then rather broken Hedemora rider in sheet metal which has now been refurbished.
– This old rider may have a great sentimental value.
The refurbishment was budgeted at SEK 2 million, but the final bill looks to be well under budget according to Peter Sennblad.
– It will be a bit like a landmark and hopefully people will think of it when someone talks about Hedemora.
