Mexico City.- The salsa singer from Puerto Rico, Héctor Rey “El Guaraguao”, died this Wednesday after being hospitalized for health problems.

The report of the death was confirmed by the representative of the Puerto Rican singer, who told local media that the artist died the day after being admitted to the hospital.

“Hector entered a health center at dawn on January 24 in his native country, after presenting health problems; however, it was not until the next day that he passed away,” the representative told the Puerto Rican media.

According to reports, the interpreter of “Te Propongo” had health complications, however, the details about the causes of his death are unknown.

Héctor Rey was still active in the world of music, he even used his social networks to show some of his presentations and give announcements about his projects.

He was born on the 26th of 1968 in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. His interest in the tropical genre led him to start his career as part of the Salsa Fever orchestra.

Some time later he gained worldwide recognition by becoming one of the exponents of salsa with songs such as “Yo No Sé Vivir Ya Sin Tu Amor”, “Amor Verdadero” and for his collaborations in the making of covers of Buena Vista Social Club songs.
