The Russian ships are suspected of surveying critical infrastructure in Nordic waters. The SVT Nyheter og Uppdrag review has identified 27 designated spy ships that have been in Swedish waters.

SVT, together with NRK, DR and Yle, has reviewed Russia’s operations in the Nordics in the investigation documentary series “The Shadow War”.
By analyzing vessel traffic data, 50 Russian vessels with suspicious sailing patterns have been identified in Nordic waters. 27 of the vessels have been in Swedish waters.

SVT’s Uppdrag review and the editorial staff at the public service companies DR, NRK and Yle have in the past year conducted a comprehensive review of Russian intelligence activities against the Nordic countries.
The editors have mapped Russian ships, reconnaissance work and source recruitment. Parts of the review have been done in collaboration with the excavation department Dossier center.
The result is the three-hour long the documentary series “The Shadow War”. The first part of the series has its Nordic premiere on SVT Play on Wednesday 19 April. Part 2 will be released on April 26 and part 3 on May 3.
