The UK Competition and Markets Authority puts sticks in the wheel for Microsoft’s acquisition of gaming giant Activision Blizzard. The primary reason is said to be skepticism within the cloud gaming segment. Microsoft already has a strong position in that area, and a takeover of Activision Blizzard would hit other players hard and limit the freedom of choice for players, writes the British authority.

The deal, estimated at 69 billion dollars, was already announced at the beginning of last year. Since then, Microsoft has fought a hard battle to convince competitors and regulators alike that the purchase should go through. Today’s decision in Great Britain is considered a huge blow to the business, as according to CNBC will be appealed by Microsoft.
