Will it be really good or a complete flop? Interested players have certainly heard the history of the new settler development, which we have been reporting on since its launch. In this real-time strategy game with building elements, players can colonize a new land, build their own communities, meet new factions and welcome them as enemies or allies to protect and defend their new settlement. It is scheduled for release on February 17, 2023 for PC. At the same time, the game is being developed for Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Amazon Luna instead.
Many of our readers are, I’ve found over the past few years, fans of the Settlers series. The hope was correspondingly high when a new settler game was announced in 2018. But this had to be postponed several times. After a very long wait, it should be ready in mid-March 2022, but after feedback from the beta, the reboot of the classic “The Settlers” was postponed again.
The community was understandably upset as they got into development very late – and that’s how the game got scathing feedback in beta. That was a while ago though, so I hope you still got the hang of it – although the postings in the community forums don’t bode well.
At least the system requirements remain the same. They were called back then for the closed beta, now they are but also listed in the stores, in which you can order “The Settlers – New Alliances” (basic game from 60 euros). Now these aren’t necessarily requirements that make it impossible to enjoy the game. But on the contrary. It should now only fail in terms of content. Otherwise stays Anno – although 30 years after the first Settlers part of Blue Byte I would have been looking forward to a fun-making success.
