The young French singer, seen in the film Tenor with Michèle Laroque, seduced the British telecrochet jury on May 6 Britain’s got talent.
Mohamed Belkhir, better known as MB14, is a hit in the UK. The young singer, actor and beatboxer who passed through The Voice France in 2016, and revealed by the recent film Tenorparticipate in the British telecrochet Britain’s got talentthe equivalent of France has incredible talent.
On May 6, he landed a “golden buzzer” there, thanks to the hosts of the show, the duo Ant and Dec allowing him direct access to the semi-finals. The jury, made up of Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden, was also totally dazzled by his beatbox and singing number.
“You are phenomenal”
“I was hypnotized by your music”, first launched the choreographer Bruno Tonioli.
“You are absolutely phenomenal, we’ve never had anyone like you on this show,” gushed singer Alesha Dixon.
Producer Simon Cowell, also won over, was surprised to only discover the young artist now. “I don’t know where you were. But seriously, no matter where you’re from, we should have heard of you by now. It’s one of those auditions you’ll never forget.”
In France, MB14, however, is far from unknown. The one who started as a beatboxer in the quartet Berywambefore performing solo participated in season 5 of The Voice. He co-stars with Michèle Laroque in the film Tenorreleased on May 4 at the cinema.
Two months to learn the basics of opera
He plays Antoine, a young suburbanite who divides his time between his passion for rap, his studies and his job as a sushi delivery boy, who finds himself propelled into the hushed world of opera singers.
In the film, he is undubbed and sings himself. It only took him two months of work to learn the basics of opera.
“Since I was little, I have always liked to imitate. People, cartoon voices, sound effects, my teachers”, explained MB14 to BFMTV. He bluffed Michèle Laroque for whom “he has something invaluable: when he plays, he is true”.
France is no longer the only country to have noticed his talent.
