The hackers targeted the IT services company Abtel, based in Nîmes, which hosts the Bry-sur-Marne site and that of several other town halls, in particular Juziers in Yvelines and Ambérieu-en-Bugey in Ain.

A cyberattack by pro-Russian hackers targeted the websites of several French town halls, including that of Bry-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne), which filed a complaint.

The hackers broadcast in Cyrillic on the Bry-sur-Marne site “pro-Russian propaganda messages, namely ‘Respect Russia! Otherwise we will continue to make war on you'”, detailed the Val-de-Marne prefecture .

According to Jean-Philippe Navarro, director of Abtel, 45 websites were affected last weekend by the cyberattack, out of around 1,000 sites hosted by the company. These sites, including around thirty town halls, used the same content management system developed by a web agency taken over by Abtel six years ago.

“This relatively efficient system at the time is no longer so today, there is no correction of security vulnerabilities. Customers were warned several months or even years ago that the risks were significant. , but redoing a site from scratch represents a significant budget,” Navarro told AFP.

Charles Aslangul (Les Républicains), mayor of Bry-sur-Marne, said he had filed a complaint against X at the Nogent-sur-Marne police station on Tuesday for “fraudulent access to an automated data processing system and alteration or modification of this last”. This offense is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and a fine of 150,000 euros.

The site of the town hall of Bry-sur-Marne became accessible again on Wednesday, said the city councilor, specifying that it did not contain any personal data on the inhabitants of the town.
