Guns N’ Roses released the albums Use Your Illusion I and II in January 1990.
“Without You”, a short story featured in the book “The Language of Fear” by Del James, inspired the Guns N Roses trilogy
“The cold is a metaphor. It shows someone trapped in time and space, there’s not even reality of where the person was at that moment, it’s like a past life”, declared Axl Rose about the opening scene of “Don’t Cry”.

Axl Rose would have recorded 1990 as the date of his death because it was a very difficult year for him, where thoughts of suicide were increasingly intense

Water is a very important element in the trilogy, and in each video it works to represent a new beginning. In Don’t Cry, Axl appears to be choking, refusing to change; November Rain, the rain announces the death of his beloved, forcing him to live a completely different life than planned. In Estranged, Axl searches for the water with the intention that he can start over.
“dolphins symbolize a state of grace and peace,” stated Axl Rose on Estranged
At the end of “Estranged” one of Rose’s sneakers falls into the water as a reference that she has left behind the person she once was.
