Ahead of his first performance tomorrow, John said: “You have a 6ft 3in guy trying to be Bambi on the ice, it’s very difficult.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, I would say this is the most disturbing and scariest sport or project I have ever had.

“I think my mental toughness is a plus. I always say ‘Yes, we can do that!’

“I would say that I am not as strong as before. I’m an entertainer though, and this is a show I wish I could entertain.

John skates with pro Alexandra Schauman, who is dancing on her ninth series of the show, to Collapsed Lung’s Eat My Goal.

Fash laughed, “In my head, I’ve already won the show!”
