Fans of the series The Witcher by Netflix will definitely have no success. A new hope and a very popular theory within the community has just been shattered.

The end of 2022 will have been eventful for Henry Cavill who will ultimately not take up the sword of the White Wolf, nor the cape of Superman. The actor should nevertheless have his last stand at the end of season 3 of the Netflix series The Witcher, after which he will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. The showrunners promise a heroic finale and a departure that will ease the transition with his successor. A turning point in Geralt’s story that has given rise to many theories and the most popular has just been destroyed.

A very popular theory around the series The Witcher destroyed

The great replacement of Henry Cavill in the series The Witcher is much talked about. Beyond the new actor’s detractors, some fans wonder if this sudden change will be justified in the script or not. We know that the personal arc of Geralt de Cavill will end at the end of season 3 in order to find a completely transformed Witcher and not only physically. Yet a popular theory with the community involved the big trend of the moment: the multiverse. What if Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia simply came from another timeline? Declan de Barra, showrunner of the spin-off The Witcher Blood Origin comes to undermine this hypothesis.

Asked by GamesRadar, the one in charge of one of the biggest disasters of the year for Netflix looked at the issue of time travel in the series and in the universe of The Witcher. He claims that despite the existence of several timelines there are no variants of the same character as may be the case in the Loki series from Disney + for example.

Only one version of Geralt for two actors

There are no different versions. They are all the same character but the worlds they travel in are very different and exist in different timelines sometimes. There’s a lot of travel between worlds, but it’s just the same characters going through them. They may change in terms of the character’s passive, how long they’ve lived, or what they do in other worlds, but it’s still the same person. It’s not like there are two versions of Jaskier and it’s clear that there is only one version of Yennefer. It’s the same for everyone.

Many fans of The Witcher were indeed hoping for the arrival of a new Geralt who was not the same as that of Henry Cavill in order to separate the two interpretations of the two actors. Liam Hemsworth will take over the torch in all its forms from season 4. New blow for part of the community who had already gone out of their way to get Cavill back with a petition accumulating hundreds of thousands of signatures. Netflix, however, shattered their dream. Despite the abandonment of the Superman films, they will stick to their position and keep this new Australian actor for the next season of The Witcher series.
