This Sunday, May 14, Mother’s Day is celebrated in Chile and many Latin American countries. Therefore, from FayerWayer we honor the best Moms in the world of anime. We made a count of who we think are the five most representative of the animated stories that come to us from Japan.

Dragon Ball and Naruto find themselves in this brilliant tally we made, after doing extensive research and spending several hours arguing in our newsroom.

There are mothers from other animes who, due to their dedication to the series, have earned a place in the count and in our hearts. Let’s go then to review each of these characters to whom this weekend we dedicate a special affection.

The five best Moms in anime

  • Sachiko Fujinuma (Erased): Sachiko is a caring and devoted mother. Despite facing challenges and dangers, she always protects and supports her son Satoru from her, even risking her own life.
  • Kyoko Honda (Fruits Basket): Kyoko is the mother of Tohru Honda. Although she passed away before the start of the series, her unconditional love and her positive influence on Tohru are central to the development of the story.
  • Izumi Curtis (Fullmetal Alchemist): Izumi is both a foster mother and a teacher to the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse. Although she can be strict, her dedication and sacrifice for them are remarkable.
  • Kushina Uzumaki (Naruto): Kushina is Naruto’s mother and her influence is felt throughout the series. Despite her difficult circumstances, she shows deep love and an unwavering determination to protect her son.
  • Milk (Dragon Ball): Milk is the wife of Goku and mother of Gohan and Goten. Although she can sometimes be strict and overprotective, her love and concern for the well-being of her children are evident. Also, she is a strong and brave fighter.
