Mexico City.- The government of the capital, headed by the Morenista Claudia Sheinbaum, and that of the Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office, headed by the opposition Mayor Sandra Cuevas, exchanged complaints, after the discovery of propaganda against the Head of Government in the offices of the demarcation on Thursday morning night.

The Secretary of the General Comptroller of the City reported that, behind the materials that were seized, a scheme of diversion of resources is presumed, for which the office of the Internal Control Body opened an investigation file, in addition to notifying the the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office on the facts.

“It is probable, it depends on the investigations that it is a diversion of resources,” indicated the head of the Comptroller’s Office, Juan José Serrano.

The propaganda seized are packages with pamphlets against the morenista government. It is presumed that its printing was paid for with public resources.

In turn, the Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office denounced the officials who carried out the proceedings on Thursday, accusing them of the crimes of illegal deprivation of liberty, illegal exercise of public service and illegal use of public force.

While Sheinbaum described the discovery as a sample of the dirty war that the Opposition is facing, Cuevas referred to the fact as a setup by the local Administration.

“A large amount of propaganda was found, which is called a dirty war, it has no other name, a campaign against the Head of Government in a public office,” Sheinbaum said yesterday at noon.

Hours before, Cuevas had held a conference on the esplanade of the Mayor’s Office, in which he accused that the intervention of CDMX personnel at the headquarters of his Government was a crime.

“In the end, even if there were flyers, those who want, thousands of flyers, that does not justify the crime that the Cuauhtémoc Prosecutor, the Cuauhtémoc Comptroller, the Mexico City Comptroller did commit,” Cuevas said.

“They don’t know how to do it, because if they wanted to do things right, then the packages would have been sent to my office and then, perhaps, I would have been responsible. Fortunately today we have cameras everywhere, so let’s go demonstrate at the time what it was or what we are going to contribute”.

On Thursday night, the capital authorities found 13 packages with flyers and 12 canvases with messages against the Head of Government in the Cuauhtémoc Social Development Department.

The head of the Comptroller pointed out that the complaint will not be against any specific public servant.

He added that the seized material was sent to the FGJ for safekeeping, in addition to the fact that the Comptroller’s Office may request the appearance of officials from the Mayor’s Office.

Regarding the complaint that led to the intervention, Serrano explained that it came from an anonymous citizen, who attached “precise” evidence, as well as photographs of the packages, so it was decided to act the same day it was received.
