Veracruz Mexico.- The Veracruz Attorney General’s Office reported the dismantling of a criminal gang that operated in the southern part of the state.

He stressed that as a result of investigative and intelligence work, elements of the Specialized Unit to Combat Kidnapping carried out an operation in the Municipality of Lerdo de Tejada, some 103 kilometers south of the Port of Veracruz.

The operation was carried out in conjunction with the Ministerial Police, the National Guard and the Army, the institution reported.

“Resulting in the arrest in flagrante delicto of 11 people allegedly members of a criminal cell, who were seized various long weapons, short weapons, chargers, ballistic vests, tactical equipment, radio communication equipment, mobile phones and drugs among others,” detailed.

The detainees were identified as Jorge Alberto “N”, Arturo “N”, María Isabel “N”, Yazmín “N”, Jaime “N”, Gilberto “N”, Marco Antonio “N”, Verónica “N”, Lorenzo Isidro “N”, Jorge Andrés “N” and Isidro “N”.

The defendants were presented at an initial hearing before the Oral Criminal Process and Procedure Judge, who charged them as allegedly responsible for acts constituting crimes, including against health, carrying a weapon and against public security institutions.

It was indicated that the judge imposed the precautionary measure of unofficial preventive detention for one year.
