Agents of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of Ponce, arrested a 19-year-old young man on Tuesday afternoon, suspected of being involved in an exchange of shots with police, near a grocery store in the Quebradas de Yauco neighborhood.
The individual identified as Angel Orlando Gutiérrez Caraballo, was traveling in a gray Kia Sportage vehicle, with the license plate JIN-857, reported as stolen in San Juan.
According to authorities, an exchange of fire ensued while trying to stop and intervene with the suspect, who then abandoned the vehicle and fled into a wooded area in the region.
The youth was charged with: attempted murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, for the use of force against a public order agent and aggravated damages.
Judge Adria Cruz Cruz found cause for arrest and imposed a $500,000 bail on him that he did not provide, for which he will be admitted to Las Cucharas prison.
