They ask for 16 years in prison for the ex-wife of Josep Maria Mainat

The Prosecutor’s Office has requested a 16-year prison sentence for Ángela Dobrowolski for allegedly trying to murder Josep Maria Mainat on the night of June 22-23, 2020. In the indictment, he is also attributed an alleged crime of concealment and disclosure of secrets, facts for which they claim a fine of 6,000 euros and a 500-meter restraining order for eight years after serving the prison sentence.

At the time of the facts that will be analyzed in the trial, Dobrowolski and the television producer were in full divorce proceedings. In fact, the defendant had left the house where they lived and the prosecutor believes that, on one of the nights that she stayed in the house to keep in touch with her children, she used the computer to access the email of Mainat and find out details about the divorce suit. Thus she realized that if the producer died, she “would be one more heiress to his very notable estate as long as they were still married and without having initiated any divorce proceedings.””. Otherwise, she would be “excluded from the will”.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Dobrowolski would have taken advantage of that information to plan the murder of Mainat that night in June three years ago. “He had been sleeping since 11:00 p.m. and around 2:00 a.m. the woman suddenly woke him up, surprisingly telling him that she had to inject him with a medication to lose weight that she had been taking for a long time.”

He was semi-conscious, and with the sole purpose of avoiding another argument and continuing to sleep, unable to imagine or imagine the woman’s true purpose, he agreed to give him the injection.”, picks up the prosecutor. Dobrowolski was studying the last year of Medicine and knew that Mainat suffered from type 2 diabetes, so he allegedly injected her with “a mixture of rapid-acting and long-acting insulin” that could lead to her death. The prosecutor also adds that she “knew” that insulin was contraindicated for Mainat’s disease and that he would not find out about the symptoms of hypoglycemia that he was going to suffer.

Since then, Dobrowolski reportedly checked Mainat’s blood sugar level with a glucometer to calculate when “recovery from hypoglycemia would be virtually impossible.”” and “did not do anything to reverse his condition” until 3:12 a.m., when he called 911 to cover up his actions, according to the prosecutor. The paramedics did not arrive at the scene until 3:25 a.m. and found Mainat in a coma. He was given “a high amount of glucagon to save his life” and he was later transferred to the Quirón Hospital.
